Dynamic Weighing Axle Identification Controller

Product Description
WIM Controller

The axle-identification controller serves as the core processing unit for dynamic weighing and off-site law-enforcement systems designed for overload control. It processes signals from pavement axle sensors—including piezoelectric, pressure-sensitive, and laser types—to calculate and analyze vehicle axle quantity, single-/dual-tire status, axle groups, and wheelbase, then outputs corresponding axle-type codes.

When integrated with weighing instruments and infrared light curtains, this controller enables comprehensive truck vehicle-type classification, overload judgment, and weight-based toll collection.

As vehicles pass over axle identification sensors, the controller captures signal variations. Following sampling, analysis, and processing, it outputs characteristic signals corresponding to vehicle wheels. This functionality supports vehicle type classification, pressure point position statistics, and free-flow operation within the weighing system.

The equipment offers high speed, precision, operational simplicity, stability, and ease of maintenance.

Schematic Diagram of Equipment Connection

The vehicle axle identification system provides input interfaces for up to 8 channels of wheel-axle identification sensors, designated CH1 to CH8. Each wheel-axle identification sensor connects to a separate channel individually. Sensor signal wires connect to terminals 1 to 16 of the corresponding channel according to wire sequence or color coding. Unused signal wires remain unconnected, with only one GND wire required per channel.

As illustrated below, channel CH1 includes 2 GND interfaces and 16 signal interfaces (1 to 16) for wheel-axle identification sensors. By default, the first wheel-axle identification sensor closest to the cabinet side is defined as Sensor 1, with its signal wires connected to channel CH1. Sensor 2 connects to channel CH2, and so forth.
